Podcast Season 3 Teaser
A Handbook for the Royal Priesthood
About this Podcast:
This episode is a short teaser for season 3 of the Deeper Riches podcast. Listen to catch a sneak peek of what’s coming in the New Year!
Welcome back!
On the new season of the Deeper Riches Podcast, we have something really special in store for you.
For both of us, the last decade has been a season of deep study of the Scriptures and tremendous spiritual growth. God has given us so much grace and helped us develop a robust Biblical perspective, a worldview if you will, that has completely transformed the trajectory of our family, our marriage, and our ministry.
For more than a year now, we’ve been working on organizing and articulating that Biblical perspective in a systematic way so we can help you to see the story God is weaving through creation, history, and the Bible, and see where you fit in that story.
So we invite you to join us on this foundational journey, a journey of unpacking what the Scriptures teach about Who God is, why he made the world, the purpose of human history, and therefore who You are, and Your purpose on this planet.
1 Peter 2:9 says,
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
1 Peter 2:9 ESV
What a great summary of our identity and purpose in Christ! We are chosen, we are set apart, God’s own people, and our role in the kingdom is to serve as a royal priesthood, living for the worship of God alone.
In light of this verse, we are titling this new series: A Handbook for the Royal Priesthood.
We hope this season will serve as a bootcamp of sorts, to train us up to live a life worthy of our calling, first by helping us better understand the God we serve and His purposes, and then exploring all the diverse responsibilities and blessings we have as his kingdom priests.
The priesthood is the inheritance of every believer, not a select few uber Christians.
We want to help you lay a foundation on which to build a life fully devoted to the exaltation of Jesus Christ. Jesus said the best foundation we can build is to hear His words and put them into practice.
Therefore, this training cannot only be about knowledge and understanding. It has to be about actually obeying the Word of God. With that in mind, we hope this series will help you to actually put into practice what you learn as you grow in knowledge and understanding.
We want to help you take up a Biblical set of lenses through which to view God, yourself, and the world. How we see impacts where and how we walk. We want to grow in our capacity to behold the glory of God, and to see ourselves and all believers as his chosen, royal priests, set apart for a specific purpose.
According to 1 Peter 2:9, the purpose of this royal priesthood is “to proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
So the goal is not that we alone would experience more of his glory, but as the psalmist says, that the whole earth will be filled with his glory.
So welcome to Season 3: A Handbook of the Royal Priesthood. Are you ready?
Let the priestly bootcamp begin!

S3Ep9: God’s Good Plan for the End of the World
On this episode we explore the end of the story: the Day of Judgment and the Return of the King. Did you know that God has a GOOD plan for the end of the world? God unveils His plan for Judgment Day from Genesis to Revelation, but Christians tend to avoid even thinking about it today. Listen to learn why understanding the end of the world matters for our lives TODAY.
S3Ep8: We Are Kingdom People
This episode of the Deeper Riches Podcast puts the “Royal” in the Royal Priesthood. As adopted sons and daughters of the King of the Universe, we are royalty. But what is this kingdom that we have entered into? What does it mean to do “kingdom work” or be a “kingdom person”? What is the real work of this kingdom of priests? We return to the story of the history of the world and explore what God revealed about His Kingdom through the first three kings of Israel: Saul, David, and Solomon. We also dive into the parables Jesus told about his kingdom and take away some big lessons about the nature of the Kingdom of God.
S3Ep7: What is the Church?
What is the church? Is it a building? A place we go to get some encouragement and fellowship once or twice a week? According to the Scriptures, the church is so much more. It is the Body of Christ on the earth, and the Bride who awaits His return. God’s plan for the Church is one of the great mysteries in all the universe, a thing into which angels long to look! On this latest episode of the Deeper Riches podcast, we explore this beautiful mystery and discover that faith is not a ME thing – it’s a WE thing! Enjoy!
S3E6: We Are Priests Like Living Stones
If you are in Christ, you are a part of the Royal Priesthood. Along with every believer of Jesus, we are being built up, like living stones, into a holy temple where God dwells. We are made to be instruments of reconciliation between God and man. In this episode we explore our Priesthood, and talk about what makes it distinct from the Levitical priesthood established in the Law. We analyze the story of Melchizedek, and gain new insights into our own priestly duties based on the story of this obscure royal priest. If we belong to the Body of Christ, we have already been anointed and ordained and consecrated for this high calling. Isn’t it about time we learn what this Priesthood is all about?
S3Ep5 – The Law and the Gospel
On this episode, we discuss the giving of the Law of Moses. Through this Law, God gave to mankind an unbelievable grace: He revealed the gospel more fully than ever before. We will trace how God clearly communicated his standard for right and wrong, the standard by which all of mankind is judged, and the standard of which we all fall short. But in the Law God also revealed that He would take payment for our sin with the blood of a perfect, spotless sacrifice, and restore us to a right relationship with Him. Without this Law, there is no gospel. We hope that this episode challenges your previous conceptions of the Law, and gives you an extra measure of gratitude and awe.
S3 Ep4: Let My People Go!
On this episode, we discuss God as DELIVERER. We dive into the story of the Exodus, when God delivered His people out of slavery in Egypt. Next to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Exodus is the most miracle-filled story in the Bible. The story is so pivotal, that the Israelites were commanded to remember and reenact it every single year forever. This story is also foundational to the Royal Priesthood today, because before we can serve God in the wilderness, we must actually leave the system of Egypt. This is an application rich episode, worth listening all the way through. It will challenge you, but it is our hope that you, too, will hear the call of God on your behalf, to “Let my people go!”
